On Singing To You

The first time ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and stars were the gifts you gave
To the dark and the empty skies, my love,
To the dark and the empty skies.

The first time ever I kissed your mouth
And felt your heart beat close to mine
Like the trembling heart of a captive bird
That was there at my command, my love
That was there at my command.

And the first time ever I lay with you
I felt your heart so close to mine
And I knew our joy would fill the earth
And last till the end of time my love
It would last till the end of time my love
The first time ever I saw your face
your face
your face

Dear Son,
This beautiful song by Roberta Flack I often sing to you . . . you look at me, as if to understand.

My goodness. God has truly blessed us with your presence. It is so wonderful to have you here. I hope that your mother shows you this page one day. You might then have a TINY fraction of how much you are loved. You just don’t know how much of a precious gift that you are not only to her, but to all of us who are having the pleasure of getting to know you. I look forward to watching you grow, praying for you and holding you dear to my heart. Always remember, GOD LOVES YOU AND SO DO I! Thank you for coming into our lives and blessing us with your love!

Love and blessing
